The People Behind: Otherworld Brewing

Dan and Tim met on a mountain in France, and from that unconventional start, came an unconventional brewery!

The thirst for creating something different, mysterious and imaginative was deep within them, so they needed to find the right place, and more importantly, the right people to take that idea and run with it.

This led to Theo joining them in Dalkeith in 2022, with an aim to produce unexpected beers across the full range of styles which are exciting and delicious for the drinker, as well as challenging to produce. (Islay Barrel Aged Smoked Lager anyone?)

Despite building a brewery to grow into, it was soon packed to the literal rafters with barrels from all over Scotland, and a desire to fill them with all sorts of weird and wonderful creations. But it didn’t stop there because there is a passion for more “old school” beer styles as well, so we started to create cask beers too! Everything from historic porter recipes to 80/-‘s. Even fans of hoppy pales and NEIPA’s aren’t left behind as we’ve begun to put more energy into perfecting the dank side!

As Otherworld began to grow in 2024, Karan joined the team with a goal to strive for the best, strangest, and delicious beers while trying to get them far and wide with a combination of well made beer and iconic designs.

We are also lucky enough to work with a very talented artist in John Stone, who met Tim at a tattoo convention in France and turned out to be exactly who the brand needed at the time. His designs add the right amount soul and mystery to complement our big flavour profiles!
