About Abbeydale Brewery

There’s Nothing More Social Than Beer…

Abbeydale Brewery started life all the way back in 1996, when Patrick Morton founded the brewery in an old steelworks in Sheffield. Pat’s work as an engineer regularly took him to America where he fell in love with US hops and beer styles. This approach proved immediately successful at a time when malty, brown beers were the norm - and we're now the longest standing brewery in the great brewing city of Sheffield.

Our focus on training, brewing science and technical skill has allowed our brewers to gain the knowledge to create the beer they want to drink across a wide range of styles, and we’ve built our reputation upon this quality, consistency and adaptability.

As the beer world has evolved so have we (although we’ve continued to use many of those same hops we've been using in our cask beer since 1996!), and we now create beer for keg and can too, plus our barrel ageing and mixed fermentation programme, all running alongside each other and solidifying our position within the burgeoning UK craft beer scene.

We truly believe in the power of beer as a mechanism to bring people together, and strive to create a diverse and delicious range which covers the whole spectrum of beer drinkers. Put simply, we love and celebrate great beer in all its forms!

Sustainability

We have recently appointed an environmental officer on the team who has been helping adapt our old steelwork premises and operating practices. We’re on a rolling program of improvements and have invested in more energy efficient brewkit to reduce our impact.

We also provide spent grain to local farmers as animal feed and spent hops to local allotment owners.
