About Wiper and True
Wiper and True started life in 2012, with three friends creating homebrew beer on their kitchen stovetops. Over the next few years the trio produced beer nomadically, brewing through the night and at weekends at breweries across the country. In 2015 we built our own brewery in Bristol, where we brewed for the next seven years in a small, cosy and, being honest, slightly cramped unit in St Werburghs. In July 2022, we expanded into the bespoke, German-engineered brewery of our dreams, built to our exact specification in Old Market, Bristol. A stunning taproom now sits alongside this brewery, with our original home in St Werburghs still a thriving neighbourhood bar.
The team has grown a little over the years, but we’ve kept the same laser-sharp focus on brewing beautiful beers. In your Brewser box you can expect to tuck into a broad array of styles including collaborations, seasonal releases and one-offs.
Sustainability
At Wiper and True we are constantly working to become the most sustainable brewery possible. It's no secret that brewing uses a lot of energy and creates a significant amount of by-products. We want our overall impact on the planet to be a positive one, so in the day-to-day running of our business we’re focused on tackling the biggest environmental impacts that our brewery is making, whether that be our energy demand, efficiency savings, waste products or ingredient sourcing. Here are a few things we’re doing right now:
-
We use a 100% renewable energy tariff with carbon offset natural & green gas.
-
Up to 20% of our power is from a 39kw solar array we’ve installed on our brewery and we’re increasing this to 164kw by the end of 2022.
-
We’re adding carbon capture to our processing, to reduce our brewing impact. This process collects CO2 produced as a by-product of fermentation, ready to be used later.
-
Our labels are printed on cornstarch not plastic. Simply recycle the can as usual and the label is used as fuel during the recycling process.
