About Little Pomona

Founded in 2015, Little Pomona specialises in fine ciders and perries crafted with natural methods from amazing local parcels of fruit.

Based near Bromyard in north Herefordshire, Little Pomona lets nature take charge, with spontaneous fermentation, no dilution, filtering, backsweetening or pasteurisation.

Beginning in the garage at home, Little Pomona now lives in a purpose-built cidery with its own tasting room. Little Pomona's small, dedicated team continues its natural path, while also having the freedom to innovate and grow.

Known for its sharing bottles, barrel fermentation programme and lively labels, Little Pomona pioneered conditioning in keg for a natural sparkle. With its Hard Rain series, it has reinvented the workers' drink of old, ciderkin.

Little Pomona has collaborated with the likes of Deya and Pastore, plus vital bodies such as the Burum Collective and Place of the Way.

Named Best Cider Producer in the Hereford Times Food & Drink Awards in 2019, in 2022, it was a finalist in the Drinks Producer category of the BBC Food & Farming Awards.

The Tasting Room and Cider Garden adores welcoming folks, with dozens of ciders and perries on offer and specially matched bar snacks and cheese and meat platters.

Sustainability

Our fruit is sourced from our own, home orchard, managed in an organic fashion, plus around 10 other quality-driven orchardists and farmers in the region. We use natural yeast, letting fermentations take their time, rather than speed them up with heating. Our cidery was built with proper insulation, and no heating. Where the pressed pomace still contains good sugars and flavours, it is upcycled into our Hard Rain series of ciderkins and perrykins. If not used in this fashion, pomace has been mixed with hop waste to create fertiliser for the farm's fields. We have pioneered keg-conditioning. Rather than filtering, backsweetening and then pasteurising before filling the kegs, each step of which would have consumed energy, we simply use a secondary fermentation in the keg to provide the natural sparkle, when the keg is tapped.
